  • Beer notes: Cigar City Brewing, Lagunitas Brewing, Mikkeller, Cottrell Brewing

More bottles coming from Cigar City Brewing (as reported on the blog earlier this week):

Last Friday we bottled Capricho Oscuro #2. It should be ready in about two weeks. Batch #2 is a barrel aged blend of Bolita, Big Sound and 110K+OT Batch #2. Instead of having an official release party for CO #2 we plan to just make it available at the brewery during normal business hours with a per person limit. There are about 450 bottles of batch #2.

Bolita Double Nut Brown Ale will be bottled tomorrow. Bolita has been released on draft before and the barrel aged version has been released in bottles, but this is the first time out for the bottled version of the regular Bolita. We are expecting around a 100 case yield of 12X750ml bottles. The next bottled brew will be Improvicasion Oatmeal Rye India-style Brown Ale.”

More on Cigar City’s plans for the year can be found in this Cigar City Brewing mega post.

Cottrell Mystic Bridge IPA debuts next week via TheDay.com (CT)

“Brewer Charles Buffum, whose family roots in the Mystic community go deep, is launching a second line of India Pale Ale, dubbed affectionately, Mystic Bridge I.P.A.

Buffum got the idea for the ale one recent spring day while he was sipping a pint of his 12-year-old brand, Old Yankee Ale, at John’s Café on Cottrell Street in Mystic. As the whistle blew, signaling the nearby drawbridge would be up and traffic would temporarily grind to a halt, the name for his new brew came to him, he said Tuesday. [...]

Mystic Bridge IPA will be bottled Thursday and appear on store shelves sometime next week, the first week of August, said Buffum and Chris Kepple, director of sales and marketing.”

Another new beer for Mikkeller (though not coming stateside)

For ubercollectors who may still try to nab this brew from overseas . . . Mikkeller Stella 0: “Danish Hybridbeer brewed for this years beerfestival. A hybrid between an IIPA, a Barley Wine and an American Strong Ale. 10% hoppy wickedness. This beer is besides a very limited amount on draght, bottled in 1300 numbered gigantic units (1,5 liter).” (via The Beer in Me)
