Redhook Brewery to release 8-4-1 Expedition Ale this March

(Portsmouth, NH) – Redhook Brewery will release the next beer in its Limited Series, 8-4-1 Expedition Ale, in March according to a brewery rep.

The label for this oak aged ale (brewed with honey) reads, “Hand crafted by eight brewers working in four teams, this Imperial Brown Ale was developed from their individual recipes carefully blended into one distinctive ale. Rich and flavorful, brewed with cherry-wood smoked malts and brown sugar.”

8-4-1 will be available in 22 oz. bombers and on draft. ABV is 9.5% and 45-60 IBU. This follows the last release in the series, Treblehook Barleywine.

Redhook has brought back its Nut Brown Ale as Mudslinger Spring Ale earlier this month. It will replace Copperhook as a “spring” seasonal which is now a year-round beer starting this month in all states in the West. From the brewery’s Facebook page, it is the same recipe as used in the old beer. “Look for Mudslinger to be in stores this January in Western states and in 2011 in Eastern states.”

Here is the commercial description: “Redhook’s Mudslinger Spring Ale has a medium body and features malty layers of dark chocolate and caramel, as well as notes of brown sugar and vanilla. Brewed with six barley malts and two hop varieties, Mudslinger’s smooth, well balanced flavor is perfect for pairing with grilled meats, fowl, stews and even smoked oysters or salmon.”
