A marvellous grape variety produced mainly in Tuscany from which Chianti is made. It is ruby-red tinted with a touch of orange at the rim. Delightful aromas of red cherries and plums are present on the bouquet accompanied by flavours of fruit in moderation with hints of mineral and leather. A clean attack, supported by firm acidity and tannins gives it a powerful character. It can age for a certain amount of time but rarely more than ten years. At maturity, its bouquet and flavour will have attained an incomparably attractive level of softness.
