Direct from the vineyard in Lodi where sandy, clay loam soil; hot days, cool nights and 35 year old vines combine to produce unique grapes bursting with complex, concentrated flavours.
Fermentation on the skins and all the natural solids from over 10 pounds of virgin Zinfandel grapes is our ultimate quality difference. It creates the intensely fruity character, structure and complexity expected from these great grapes.
The finished wine exhibits silken layers of multidimensional delight. It starts with an up-front core of fruit aromas followed by exotic spice and ends with an unmistakable black pepper sensation. Blackberry and dark cherry notes are most pronounced with suggestions of blueberry, raspberry, cranberry and dried plum. Undertones are of chocolate, almond and spice. This all comes together in a rounder Zin than that which comes from younger vines and other appellations.
A treat on its own and wonderfully food friendly. Everything from creamy sauced pastas, barbequed steaks, flavourful lamb, ribs slathered with basting sauce to hefty hamburgers all pair perfectly. Zinfandel may be the ultimate wine with cheeses. Try fresh goat cheese, gouda, parmesan and cheddar.
Enjoy your first bottles after 2-3 months when the powerful fruit flavours dominate. However, do cellar some for months, or years, to experience a more refined balance and the vast array of characteristics which time integrates into harmonized waves of complexity.
